Museum Gardens Competition
The competition brief called for the design of a pavilion in Museum Gardens with the theme 'Sky'.
In response to the brief and the 'Sky" theme I chose to site the pavilion along an axis connecting the V&A Museum of Childhood and St John’s Church, thereby creating a visual link between these two local landmarks.
A gentle curve in the pavilion initially obscures the view through to the other side thereby shifting attention to the open skylight which enhances the connection between the earth and the sky.
The ever changing nature of the sky is reflected within the structure by shifting shadows and changing intensity and colour of the sky throughout the day.
The pavilion ultimately aims to create a momentary shift in perception by creating a transitional space in which to experience the sky.
